SCHOOL READINESS
School readiness assessments evaluate a child's preparedness for entering formal education. These assessments consider a range of developmental areas including cognitive skills, emotional maturity, social abilities, and physical development. By identifying both strengths and areas that may need support, these assessments provide valuable insights for parents and educators. The goal is to ensure that each child has the foundational skills necessary for a smooth transition into the school environment, promoting positive early learning experiences and long-term success.
SUBJECT CHOICE
Subject choice assessments assist students in making informed decisions about which subjects to pursue during their educational journey. These assessments evaluate a student's interests, strengths, and aptitudes in various academic areas. By understanding a student's natural inclinations and abilities, subject choice assessments can guide them towards subjects that align with their potential career paths and personal interests, thereby enhancing their overall educational experience and future career satisfaction.
CAREER GUIDANCE
Career guidance assessments are essential tools for individuals at various stages of their educational or professional journeys. These assessments help identify a person's skills, interests, values, and personality traits, providing valuable insights into suitable career options. By aligning personal attributes with potential career paths, career guidance assessments support individuals in making informed decisions about their future, ensuring a fulfilling and successful professional life.
EMOTIONAL
Emotional assessments focus on evaluating an individual's emotional well-being and identifying any underlying issues that may be affecting their mental health. These assessments can help diagnose conditions such as anxiety, depression, or emotional dysregulation. By understanding a person's emotional state, therapists can develop targeted interventions to support emotional health and resilience, improving overall quality of life and interpersonal relationships.
PERSONALITY
Personality assessments explore the unique characteristics and traits that define an individual's personality. These assessments can provide insights into how a person interacts with the world around them, their coping mechanisms, and their behavioural patterns. Understanding one's personality can be instrumental in personal development, improving interpersonal relationships, and tailoring therapeutic approaches to fit the individual's needs.
PSYCHO EDUCATIONAL
Psycho-educational assessments are comprehensive evaluations that examine cognitive, academic, and emotional functioning. These assessments are often used to identify learning disabilities, attention disorders, or other barriers to academic success. By providing a detailed understanding of a student's strengths and challenges, psycho-educational assessments enable the development of effective educational plans and interventions that support academic achievement and personal growth.
CONSESSIONS / ACCOMMODATIONS
Concessions and accommodations assessments determine the necessary supports for students with learning difficulties or disabilities in educational settings. These assessments identify adjustments like extra test time, modified assignments, specialised equipment, or tools such as speech-to-text software. By providing tailored support, these assessments create an equitable learning environment, ensuring all students have the resources they need to thrive.

If you have a query that is not addressed in this section, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Our team is more than happy to provide you with the information and support you need.

How are assessments conducted?

Assessments are conducted through a structured process that includes an initial interview, self-report questionnaires, and standardised psychological tests. This process helps gather comprehensive information about the individual’s mental health, behaviour patterns, and emotional well-being. The data collected is then analysed to form a clear understanding of the individual’s needs and to develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Can I choose to have a group assessment or an individual assessment?

Yes, you can choose between a group assessment and an individual assessment. Individual assessments focus on personal issues and tailored treatment plans, while group assessments may be used for family therapy or when addressing shared concerns within a schooling context. The choice depends on the specific needs and preferences of you, the client.

What is the feedback process after an assessment?

After the assessment, a feedback session is scheduled where the results are discussed in detail. During this session, the therapist will explain the findings, answer any questions, and outline recommended next steps or treatment plans. A written report summarising the assessment outcomes and recommendations is also provided to you, the client.

What is the cost of the assessment, and is it covered by Medical Aid?

The cost of an assessment can vary depending on the type and length of the assessment. Many medical aid plans do cover psychological assessments, but coverage can vary widely. It is advisable to check with your medical aid provider to understand the specifics of your coverage. Our administrative team can assist in providing detailed cost information.

Are the assessments suitable for all ages?

Yes, the assessments are designed to be suitable for all age groups, including children, adolescents, and adults. Different assessment tools and techniques are used depending on the age and specific needs of the individual to ensure accurate and meaningful results.

How long is the assessment process and when are results given?

The duration of the assessment process can vary, but it typically takes approximately 4 hours over 2 separate days. In some cases, multiple sessions may be required. After the assessment, results and feedback are usually provided within 10 working days. The exact timeline will be discussed during the initial consultation.

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
